The Flounder is an ocean flatfish available during Spring and Summer between 6am and 8pm in any weather. Head to the beach south of Pelican Town and cast your line from the shoreline or Willy's pier. The Flounder has a moderate difficulty in the fishing mini-game, with somewhat unpredictable movements that require decent reflexes to track. It is not the hardest ocean catch, but newer players may struggle with its tendency to make sudden direction changes. A Cork Bobber or Trap Bobber will help keep your catching bar stable during the fight. At 100g base sell price, the Flounder is a respectable earner, and iridium quality specimens can bring in significantly more gold. It is not required for any Community Center bundles, so you can freely sell it, cook with it, or save it for other purposes. The Flounder works in Sashimi, Maki Roll, and Quality Fertilizer recipes. Since it appears in both Spring and Summer during daytime hours, you have a wide window to catch it during your first year. Pair your Flounder fishing with other daytime ocean catches like Sardine and Herring to make the most of your beach trips. The Flounder also appears in the Ginger Island ocean if you need an alternative catch location.
