How to Catch Halibut

The Halibut is an ocean flatfish with a split catch schedule that requires attention to timing. During Summer and Winter, you can catch it either in the morning from 6am to 11am or in the evening from 7pm to 11pm. Head to the beach south of Pelican Town and fish from the shoreline or Willy's pier during these specific windows. The Halibut has a moderate difficulty in the fishing mini-game, with steady but occasionally quick movements that require some skill to track. A Trap Bobber or Cork Bobber can help, but experienced anglers should manage without special tackle. At 80g base sell price, the Halibut is a fair catch that provides decent income during its available hours. It is not required for any Community Center bundles, so sell it, cook with it, or save it as you see fit. The Halibut works in Sashimi, Maki Roll, and Quality Fertilizer recipes. The split time windows can be a bit annoying to plan around, so your best bet is to combine Halibut fishing with other ocean catches during the same time slots. Morning sessions pair well with Tuna and other daytime ocean fish, while evening sessions can overlap with nighttime catches. Since the Halibut appears in both Summer and Winter, you have two full seasons to catch it each year. It is a good fish to target during weather that does not spawn rain-dependent fish, keeping your fishing trips productive regardless of conditions.
