The Legend is the most iconic and valuable of the five legendary fish in Stardew Valley, and it is widely regarded as the hardest fish to catch in the entire game. You need a fishing level of 10 to even hook this mythical creature. Head to the Mountain Lake during Spring on a rainy day and cast your line from the log that juts into the water near the island. The Legend can be caught at any time of day. In the fishing mini-game, the Legend exhibits the most extreme and aggressive movement patterns of any fish, violently darting from top to bottom with lightning speed. An Iridium Rod with a Trap Bobber is absolutely mandatory, and you should eat the best fishing buff food you can find, such as Seafoam Pudding, to maximize your chances. Even with perfect equipment, expect multiple failed attempts before you finally land it. At 5000g base sell price, the Legend is the most valuable fish in the game, and an iridium quality Legend is worth a staggering 15000g. It can only be caught once per save file and is not required for any Community Center bundles. Most players choose to keep the Legend as a trophy rather than sell it, though the gold is tempting. Since it requires both Spring and rainy weather at fishing level 10, you likely will not attempt this until at least Year 2. Plan ahead, check weather forecasts, and mentally prepare for a tough fight. Catching the Legend is the ultimate achievement in Stardew Valley fishing.
