Midnight Squid

The Midnight Squid is a deep-sea creature only available during the Night Market, which takes place on Winter 15, 16, and 17 each year. Board the submarine at the beach during the Night Market and fish between 5pm and 2am to have a chance at catching this bioluminescent squid. With only three nights per year to catch it, the window is extremely tight. In the fishing mini-game, the Midnight Squid has a moderate difficulty with somewhat erratic movements, though it is not as challenging as the Blobfish or Spook Fish that share the same submarine fishing spot. A Trap Bobber or Cork Bobber will help stabilize the catch. At 80g base sell price, the Midnight Squid is the least valuable of the three Night Market submarine fish, but it is still needed for your fish collection. It is not required for any Community Center bundles. The Midnight Squid can be used in Sashimi, Maki Roll, and Quality Fertilizer recipes. Since the Night Market only happens three days per year, you should dedicate at least one evening to submarine fishing and try to catch all three submarine-exclusive fish during that trip. The Midnight Squid is the easiest of the three to catch, so start with it to build confidence before going after the Blobfish and Spook Fish. Bring good tackle and fishing buff food to make the most of your limited submarine fishing time.
