How to Catch Crab

The Crab is caught using Crab Pots placed in ocean water, not with a fishing rod. To catch one, craft or purchase a Crab Pot, place it in ocean water along the beach, and bait it. Check back the next day to collect your catch. Crabs appear year-round in any weather, so there are no seasonal restrictions to worry about. Since Crab Pots do not use the fishing mini-game, there is no difficulty involved in the actual catch. The challenge is just having the patience and resources to set up and maintain your pots. At 100g base sell price, the Crab is one of the more valuable Crab Pot catches and is worth keeping an eye on. It is required for the Crab Pot Bundle in the Community Center's Fish Tank, so save at least one for the bundle. The Crab is also used in the Crab Cakes recipe, which provides a useful speed boost and decent energy restoration. Place your Crab Pots along the southern beach near Willy's shop or along the dock for easy daily collection. The Luremaster profession at Fishing level 10 eliminates the need for bait in Crab Pots, making them much more efficient. You can also find Crabs in the Mines by killing Rock Crabs, but the Crab Pot method is more reliable for consistent harvesting. Consider setting up a row of Crab Pots early in the game to passively collect Crabs and other ocean creatures while you focus on other tasks.
