Vault

The Vault is the most straightforward room in the Community Center — there are no items to collect, just gold to pay. The four bundles cost 2,500g, 5,000g, 10,000g, and 25,000g, totaling 42,500g. In return, you get the Bus repaired, which unlocks travel to the Calico Desert. The Desert is home to Skull Cavern (the game's toughest dungeon with the best loot), Sandy's Oasis shop (which sells rare seeds and other useful items), and several important items for other bundles and quests. The Vault rewards from individual bundles are quite nice too. The Crystalarium from the 25,000g bundle lets you duplicate any gem indefinitely — place a Diamond inside and it produces a new one every 5 days, which is an easy 750g profit on repeat. The Lightning Rod from the 10,000g bundle collects lightning strikes and produces Battery Packs, which are used in several important crafting recipes. The strategic question with the Vault is timing. Early in the game, 42,500g feels like a fortune, and you may be tempted to delay it. However, getting Desert access sooner rather than later opens up Iridium Ore from Skull Cavern, Starfruit Seeds from Sandy's shop, and Coconut and Cactus Fruit needed for the Exotic Foraging Bundle in the Crafts Room. Many experienced players aim to complete the Vault by late Year 1. The best way to save up the gold is to focus on profitable crops. In Spring, Strawberries (bought at the Egg Festival on Spring 13) and Cauliflower are solid earners. In Summer, Blueberries and Melons bring in strong income. In Fall, Cranberries and Pumpkins are your best bet. Artisan goods like Preserves Jars and Kegs multiply your crop profits significantly. Fishing is also excellent early income — catching and selling high-value fish in Spring can fund your first few bundles quickly. For new players, do not stress about completing the Vault immediately, but do keep it in mind as a mid-game goal. Once that bus is running, a whole new area of the game opens up.
