How to Catch Chub
The Chub is a versatile freshwater fish found in both the Mountain Lake and the Forest River, available at any time of day, in any season, and in any weather. This makes it one of the easiest fish to plan around in Stardew Valley. In the fishing mini-game, the Chub is quite easy to catch with slow, smooth movements that stay predictable throughout the fight. Even players with low fishing skill and basic equipment should have no trouble landing this one. At 50g base sell price, the Chub is not particularly valuable, but it provides a reliable source of small income during fishing sessions. It is not required for any Community Center bundles, so you are free to sell it, cook with it, or give it away without worrying about saving one. The Chub works well in Fish Stew, Sashimi, Maki Roll, and Quality Fertilizer recipes. The best spots to catch Chub are from the shore of the Mountain Lake near the Mines or along the river in Cindersap Forest near the Wizard's Tower. Since the Chub has zero restrictions on when and where it appears, you will likely catch plenty of them while fishing for other, more specific targets. Think of it as a bonus catch that keeps your fishing profitable even when the fish you actually want is being stubborn. New players will appreciate the Chub as a consistent, stress-free catch that helps build fishing experience points.
